A project in the Sydney City Community.
The grant proposal for this project has been submitted to the Sydney City Council in March 2020. Successful applicants will be notified June 2020. Wish us luck!
Sydney City residents are invited to join your community to rewild your front yards!
Rewilding is a process of turning land back to its natural form. Often our front yards are covered in imported lawn, are dead, or full of ornamental plants. Transforming your yard will not only save you water and maintenance and expenses (no more herbicides or insecticides), but will provide a natural habitat and food forrest for bees, a diverse array of insects, lizards, and birds.
Where better to start supporting you and the environment than in your own front yard.
Your teacher Maree McCarthy has 30 years of experience in horticulture. Maree has so much to share with you on all the principles of slow gardening, permaculture and establishing a new healthy ecosystem. This course is a hands on experience. You’ll be participating in three front yard make-over projects in the Sydney City community.
This project is not just about the amazing gift you’re giving back to the environment, it’s also about making new friends, reconnecting with your community and with nature and practising mindfulness. You’ll be transformed and rewilded too!
If we are successful in winning this grant in June 2020, we will be inviting you, your friends and family to join us in this wonderful community spirited project.
We welcome non-English speaking residents, mobility challenged and hearing impaired.
The project will commence in April 2021 and will run over a 3 month period.
We can accept 30 participants. There would be no cost to you for the program. Once we know we have won the grant, we will open registrations to the public.
Please contact us in the meantime if you are interested and we will keep you posted.
